Cork one step closer to Luas as proposed 18km route and stops revealed

A preferred 18km route for the proposed Luas light rail service in Cork has been unveiled, with a public consultation now open until June 9.

The route would run from Ballincollig to Mahon Point, featuring 25 stops including key locations like Munster Technological University, Cork city centre, Kent Station, and Blackrock.

Plans also include a new public transport bridge linking Kent Station to Kennedy Quay, upgraded cycling infrastructure along much of the route, a 1,000-space park and ride facility in Ballincollig, and a transport hub in Mahon.

Members of the public are encouraged to share their views during the eight-week consultation period.
