Deadline For IRP Card Renewals Approaching For Christmas Travelers

DUBLIN, Ireland – The Irish Justice Department has advised foreign nationals residing in the country who intend to travel during the Christmas holidays to submit their applications for the renewal of their Irish Residence Permit (IRP) cards well in advance of the festive season. To ensure timely registration and receipt of the new IRP card, applicants are urged to apply by October 31, 2023.

Currently, the renewal process for IRP cards takes approximately 3-4 weeks. However, during the holiday season, a significant surge in applications is anticipated. Following the renewal process, it may take an additional two weeks for the new IRP card to be delivered by post.

The Immigration Services Registration Office is struggling with the high demand, and the Justice Department has emphasized that renewal applications submitted after October 31, 2023, may not be processed in time for Christmas holiday travel.

To facilitate a smooth and hassle-free holiday season, the ministry advises all eligible foreign nationals to utilize the ISD online portal to submit their renewal applications promptly. Don’t miss the deadline and ensure your IRP card is up to date for your Christmas plans.
