Former US President Donald Trump is expected to arrive in Doonbeg in Co Clare for a private visit to his golf course today.
At the Trump International Golf Links and Hotel just outside the town, preparations were under way and security was tightened up yesterday, but employees stayed silent about the planned visit.
He bought theresort in 2014 and visited the seaside hotel as the 45th US president in 2019.
Trump spent the past two days in Scotland with his son Eric, breaking ground on a new golf course at his Menie Estate near Aberdeen and then playing a round at his Turnberry resort in South Ayrshire.
During his stay in Scotland, he spoke with Nigel Farage in an interview that will air tonight at 7pm on GB News.
The visit is warmly welcomed in the community, according to Bob Rogers of Doonbeg Community Development.
“Love him or hate him, he brings a show,” Rogers said.
The trip is Trump’s first abroad since he became the first former US president to face criminal charges.
Doonbeg is completely silent as Donald Trump arrives. On the roadway leading up to the Trump Hotel, American flags are everywhere.
