Dublin has been named the seventh best city to visit in the world in 2022 by Lonely Planet. Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2022 full list will be published today where names of best countries, cities and regions will be revealed.
Auckland in New Zealand ranked as the top city to visit in 2022 followed by Taipei in Thailand and Freiburg in Germany.
Lonely Planet is one of the most famous travel guide book publishers in the world which has its headquarters in Australia.
According to the publisher, Dublin city is ‘one of Europe’s most down-to-earth and friendly cities.’ They also mention the ‘warm and friendly’ nature of Dublin’s people.
Dublin still holds the description that can be seen in 1920’s ‘Ulysses’ by renowned Irish novelist James Joyce, points out the publisher.
“I would like to congratulate the beautiful city of Dublin on being recognised as one of the best cities to visit in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2022. This is a wonderful accolade for the city and very well deserved. It has been such a difficult period for our tourism industry and this is a timely reminder that Ireland and in particular Dublin remains a world class holiday destination.” Minister for Tourism Catherine Martin responded to Dublin’s achievement.
In the list of best counties, Cook Island comes on top and among the best regions, Westfjords in Iceland ranked first.
