The Dublin city centre could soon get a new 500-seat theatre.
To address the dearth of large venues in the city, the new theatre could be constructed. Dublin City Council is now considering the region in the city centre between the two canals as the site.
A consultancy firm has identified College Green, the Guinness Quarter and the Docklands as potential venues.
A public consulatation on the issue will remain open for another week.
Sunil Sharpe from the Save the Night Campaign told 98FM.com that the venue should be more than just a theatre. “”We need dance spaces as well. We need all purpose multi use spaces, including for the use of music, and not just stage shows. But we can do it all within the same space.”
