According to The Journal, Dublin Fire Brigade responded to 170 incidents across the county during Halloween night, with bonfires accounting for the majority of calls.
The emergency service reported receiving 494 fire calls in the 24-hour period leading to midnight, with 421 being Halloween-related. Emergency ambulance services also handled 435 calls, marking an increase from recent years’ figures. In comparison, 2023 saw 244 total calls, with 185 being Halloween-related.
Fire crews tackled various incidents across the city, including fires in bins, skips, and cargo containers. A notable incident involved fireworks being shot at people in Tallaght, and another fire was reported near an ESB sub station in Citywest. While some crews experienced anti-social behavior during their duties, no injuries were reported.
Dublin City Council had preemptively removed over 500 tonnes of potential bonfire material ahead of the holiday. Meanwhile, in Northern Ireland, the Fire and Rescue Service responded to 63 incidents, including 16 bonfires.
