An elderly pedestrian has been killed yesterday evening in Co. Offaly after being hit by a car.
The incident happened in Tullamore at around 7:45 p.m. on the R420.
The 80-year-old pedestrian was declared dead at the scene.
Since then, his body has been transported to Tullamore’s Midlands Regional Hospital.
There were no other reported injuries.
To allow Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct a technical examination, the road is currently closed. There are local detours in place.
Garda are pleading with any witnesses to contact them if they saw this collision.
Any drivers who may have dash-cam or other camera footage from when they were on the R420 between Tullamore and Clara between 7.30 and 8 o’clock are urged to provide it to the garda.
