Four men have been arrested following a garda intervention during a burglary in Co Kildare.
Gardai were alerted about an ongoing burglary on Monday at Newbridge and two men in their 30s and 40s were arrested at the scene. In a follow up search, two more men suspected to be part of the burglary in their 20s also were arrested.
“The arrests are in relation to a number of robberies and burglaries in the Newbridge, Rathangan and Brownstown areas of Co. Kildare this month.” a garda spokesperson said.
“All four men are currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Kildare and Newbridge Garda stations. Investigations are ongoing.”
They are believed to be part of a burglary gang which gardaí have been monitoring for several weeks.
