The Irish government has unveiled a comprehensive National Action Plan to address the pressing issue of human trafficking within the country. This initiative aims to provide a range of vital support to victims of this heinous crime and facilitate their coming forward.
Key elements of the plan include the introduction of a new referral scheme designed to simplify the process for victims to report their experiences and seek assistance. Additionally, extensive training will be offered to individuals who may encounter victims in their professional capacities, ensuring they are equipped to provide help.
Justice Minister Helen McEntee emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that human trafficking is an abhorrent crime that treats people as commodities, showing a complete disregard for human dignity, life, and basic rights. She emphasized that victims should be aware that there is a clear pathway for them to access help, support, and assistance in Ireland.
