Ireland is expected to experience its warmest day of 2025 today, with temperatures potentially climbing to 29 degrees Celsius in the midlands, according to Met Éireann forecasters.

The national weather service has predicted a predominantly dry and warm day across the country, though some light showers are anticipated in Ulster and Leinster provinces. The highest temperatures are forecast for the midlands region, while southern areas including Munster and parts of Leinster can expect more moderate conditions with highs of 20 to 23 degrees.
Met Éireann meteorologist Holly O’Neill confirmed that overnight temperatures will remain mild, staying between 12 and 17 degrees. If the predicted 29-degree temperature is reached, it would surpass yesterday’s record when thermometers hit 27 degrees in County Roscommon, marking the previous warmest day of the year.
Weather warnings remain active for several counties, with thunderstorm alerts currently in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, and Tipperary. Coastal areas along the west and southeast may experience patchy mist and fog conditions.
The favorable weather pattern is expected to continue through the weekend. Saturday will see temperatures ranging from 19 to 25 degrees, though longer periods of rainfall are anticipated tomorrow evening, O’Neill noted.
Sunday’s forecast shows rain clouds clearing during the morning hours, giving way to brighter conditions. However, stronger winds are expected to develop, with maximum temperatures dropping to a cooler 15 to 20 degrees.
The current warm spell represents a significant shift in Ireland’s weather patterns, offering residents and visitors ideal conditions for outdoor activities before the expected temperature decline early next week.
