A middle-aged man is recovering in hospital following a stabbing incident in Dublin’s city centre during the early hours of this morning.

The victim, a man in his 50s, was attacked on South Great George’s Street at approximately 12.30am. He was immediately transported to St James’s Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. Medical staff have confirmed that he is expected to make a full recovery from his injuries.
Gardaí responding to the scene swiftly arrested a man in his 20s in connection with the attack. The suspect is currently being held and questioned at a Garda station as investigations continue.
The area surrounding the incident was cordoned off by authorities in the aftermath of the stabbing, causing traffic restrictions throughout the morning. Gardaí maintained a visible presence at the scene as forensic examinations were carried out.
South Great George’s Street, one of Dublin’s busiest thoroughfares known for its shops, restaurants and nightlife venues, has since reopened to the public.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information about the attack to come forward and contact their local Garda station.
