The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland has reminded nurses and midwives that time remains to renew their annual registration over the Christmas and New Year period. The registration renewal window will stay open throughout the holidays until January 31, 2026.

While 37,000 nurses and midwives have already completed their renewal, those who have not yet done so are urged to log in as soon as possible through the online portal MyNMBI. The NMBI emphasizes that all renewals must be processed through this online portal, with phone payments not being accepted.
Healthcare professionals experiencing difficulties logging in or renewing online can contact the customer care team at 0818 200 116 (or +353 818 200 116 from outside Ireland) or by email at regservices@nmbi.ie. When contacting the team, registrants should provide their name, PIN, and date of birth.
The MyNMBI portal has recently been upgraded to make the renewal process more user-friendly. The NMBI notes that while the portal interface has changed, the renewal process itself remains the same and takes only a short time to complete. Existing usernames remain unchanged, but users will need to reset their passwords to access their accounts. Various guides have been developed to assist with the registration process and are available on the NMBI website.
Nurses and midwives also have the option to voluntarily remove their names from the register until January 31, 2026. This can be done without renewing registration on time and helps avoid increased restoration fees in the future. More information about the voluntary removal process is available on the website.
The NMBI emphasizes that annual registration renewal is designed to support nurses and midwives in maintaining high standards of professional practice across Ireland’s healthcare system.
