Rain set to continue across Ireland; yellow warning issued for six counties

Met Éireann has warned that heavy rain will continue across Ireland, with Status Yellow rain warnings issued for six counties.

The warning will come into effect from midnight tonight and remain in place until tomorrow morning. Forecasters say further spells of heavy rain could lead to localised flooding, especially in areas already saturated after recent bad weather linked to Storm Chandra.

The yellow rain warning applies to:

  • Carlow

  • Kilkenny

  • Louth

  • Wexford

  • Wicklow

  • Waterford

Authorities are urging people in affected areas to remain vigilant, avoid flood-prone routes, and take care while travelling. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for journeys and to be alert for standing water on roads.

Met Éireann said rainfall over the past few days has already increased the risk of flooding, and further downpours could worsen conditions before things begin to ease later tomorrow.
