SSE Airtricity has declared a substantial reduction in its gas and electricity prices, marking its commitment to passing on savings to customers. Effective from February 1st next year, the energy provider will slash electricity rates by nearly 13% and gas rates by 11.5%. Following a 12% reduction announced in September, these latest cuts are expected to bring substantial relief to standard dual-fuel customers, with estimated annual savings of around €450.
Klair Neenan, Managing Director of SSE Airtricity, affirmed the company’s dedication to supporting customers, stating, “As a company, we’ve stayed true to our word and continue to pass on savings to customers at the earliest possible opportunity. We’ve also worked hard over the last couple of years to support our customers with unrivaled financial supports and protections.”
Anticipation is growing that SSE Airtricity’s latest move could ignite a price war among other energy providers, as consumers look set to benefit from increased competition in the market.
