Dublin, Ireland : Ireland has opened its doors wider to foreign nationals with the expansion of eligibility for government job applications to Stamp 4 visa holders. The Stamp 4 permit grants citizens of other countries the right to reside and work legally in Ireland for a specified period. In 2022 alone, over 20,000 of these permits were issued to foreign nationals.
This inclusive move aims to enhance diversity within the public sector workforce, particularly benefiting immigrants, including those from India. Mr. Paschal Donohoe, the Minister of Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery, and Reform, stated that this expansion would facilitate the recruitment of skilled professionals into public sector organizations.
The decision to broaden eligibility criteria followed a comprehensive study conducted jointly by the Minister’s Department and the Public Appointments Service, which holds the authority to make public appointments. With this step, Ireland continues to prioritize inclusivity and attract a diverse talent pool for its civil service.
