Waterford Malayali Association to host child development awareness event

The Waterford Malayali Association (WMA) will host a special awareness class and open forum this month aimed at supporting the creative and social development of children.

The programme, organised under the banner ‘My Malayalam Creative Hub’, will take place on Thursday, February 19, at the Farenshoneen Youth and Community Centre in Waterford.

Organisers say the initiative is designed to nurture artistic talents among children while also encouraging socially responsible values.

The event will be conducted in two sessions.

The first session, scheduled from 1.00pm to 2.30pm, will focus on the theme ‘Nurturing Excellence Beyond the Classroom’. The session is open to primary and secondary school students as well as parents. Discussions will centre on identifying children’s innate talents and supporting their development alongside academic studies. An open forum will allow parents and students to share views and experiences.

The second session, from 2.30pm to 4.00pm, will feature an anti-drug awareness workshop for secondary school students under the message ‘Say No to Drugs’. The programme is being organised in collaboration with South Tipperary Community Service.

WMA representatives have encouraged Malayali families in Waterford and nearby areas to attend and participate in the initiative.
