Yellow rain warning issued for eight Irish counties, including Cork and Galway

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain warning for eight counties as heavy showers are expected to sweep across the region overnight.

The warning has been issued for Clare, Cork, Kerry, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo.

The warning will come into effect at 10pm tonight and is set to remain in place until 10am tomorrow. During this period, residents in these areas can expect heavy and persistent rain, which could lead to several disruptions.

According to the weather forecaster, the downpour may impact outdoor events and pose a risk of localised flooding.

In addition to the flooding risk, Met Éireann has also highlighted the possibility of difficult travelling conditions.

Both the weather service and gardaí have urged drivers to exercise caution on the roads, as the heavy rain could lead to reduced visibility and slippery surfaces.
