109 patients waiting for a bed at UHL, with 655 on trolleys overall – INMO

655 admitted patients were reportedly waiting for a hospital bed this morning, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organization, with University Hospital Limerick suffering the most.

The largest number of waiting patients this year, according to the report, was 109 at UHL.

A “major internal incident” that the hospital had declared earlier this month as a result of the overcrowding was stood down on Friday.

The INMO’s TrolleyWatch statistics show that today there were 500 patients waiting in emergency rooms and 155 patients on wards in hospitals across the nation.

There are 63 patients waiting at Cork University Hospital, 56 at University Hospital Galway, 42 at Letterkenny University Hospital, and 52 at the Mater Hospital in Dublin, among other places. At Crumlin, Tallaght, and Temple Street Children’s Hospitals, there were 18 admitted patients waiting for a bed.
