Dublin City has been ranked the fifth-best city in the world for skin health, according to a study. Dublin got 7.78 over all points and is the only city from Ireland that made to the 25 member list.
The study was conducted by skincare experts LookFantastic and Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland secured first rank with a score of 8.24. The city is the least affected by the environment and also been recognised as having one of the lowest levels of annual sunlight in the world. Helsinki (Finland) secured second rank in the list followed by Manchester (UK) to the third and Vancouver (Canada) on fourth.
The online beauty retailer analysed cities around the world to find out which places are most affected by factors, such as air pollution, UV light, average temperature and smoking prevalence.
The site gave each city a normalised score out of 10 based on these factors, taking an average of all of these scores to rate each location out of 10.
As per their findings, the beauty site commented, “While they may not be the best places to live if you’re a sun worshipper, living in these areas with lower exposure to the sun’s UV rays could help prevent dryness, irritation and even skin conditions such as acne and eczema. Regardless of where you live, it’s important to take responsibility for your own skin, especially if you live in a particularly sunny or heavily polluted area.”
Lookfantastic was founded in 1996 as one of the first online beauty stores in the UK.
