Ellie Goulding has revealed the release date of her fifth studio album, which will be released early next year.
Higher Than Heaven, her first album since Brightest Blue in 2020, is set to be released on February 3rd, 2023.
Along with the album announcement, the 35-year-old singer released a new song from the album called Let It Die.
“There was definitely a darkness about (the past two years) that was palpable in the studio, with everyone having gone through it differently,” Speaking about the new album, Goulding said.
“I think for that reason, nobody wanted to sit and agonise over some relationship or some drama. So that’s how this album came together.
“(Higher Than Heaven) is about being passionately in love. But it’s a hyper form of love, almost like a drug-induced feeling. It feels almost artificial and there’s the potential for a crash.”
The album announcement follows the recent release of her song Easy Lover and her collaborative tune All By Myself with Alok and Sigala.
Goulding first topped the charts with her first album Lights in 2010, and she continued her success with the 2012 release Halcyon.
Delirium, her third studio album, peaked at number three in the UK charts, while Brightest Blue quickly rose to the top.
Earlier this year, the singer received the president’s award at the BMI London Awards for her contributions to music and songwriting.
Along with her music career, Goulding has become extremely engaged in activism, and she became an ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme in 2017.
