Young cricketer Febin Manoj has scripted history, becoming the first Indian-origin player to be selected for Ireland’s Under-19 Men’s team.

The talented all-rounder has been named in the 14-member squad set to tour Zimbabwe for a five-match 50-over series starting April 3 in Harare.
Febin, who represents The Hills Cricket Club in Dublin, was also part of Ireland’s U17 boys’ squad last year.
In a statement, The Hills Cricket Club congratulated Febin on his achievement, saying, “Well done Febin, very well deserved and the best of luck on the tour.”
Febin is the son of Manoj John and Beena Varghese. His father hails from Chengamanadu, Kerala, and his mother works as a Clinical Nurse Manager at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Athy, County Kildare. Febin also has a supportive sister, Neha John.
According to head coach Peter Johnston, the Zimbabwe tour presents a valuable opportunity for the young players to gain experience in different conditions after a long winter.
“This tour will expose the players to strong competition and allow them to experience different conditions. With the next ICC U19 Men’s World Cup being co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia, we may well end up back in Harare in January 2026. So it will be a great learning experience,” he said.
Febin’s achievement is a proud moment for the Indian diaspora and a testament to the growing diversity in Irish cricket.
