Emergency services have made significant progress in controlling a large fire at an industrial premises in Coolock, north Dublin. The blaze, which erupted at the Camfil air filtration systems factory in Clonshaugh Industrial Estate, sent a massive plume of smoke visible across the city and from Dublin Airport.

Dublin Fire Brigade and Gardaí responded to the fire, with firefighters working late into the evening to contain it. Despite the dramatic scene, flights at Dublin Airport were unaffected, though locals were advised to stay indoors due to the smoke.
The fire, which caused some structural collapses and extensive damage to the Camfil building, is not believed to have been malicious. As of Thursday evening, the fire brigade reported that the situation was under control and began scaling back their response, though some firefighters remained on-site to monitor the situation overnight.
No injuries have been reported. Dublin Fire Brigade continues to advise residents to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution against smoke exposure.
The proximity of the fire to a nearby Amazon data center and the former Crown Paints factory, a recent site of protests and arson attacks, initially sparked online speculation. However, authorities confirmed that Thursday’s fire at Camfil was accidental.
Despite the proximity to the airport, operations at Dublin Airport were not impacted, and flights continued as normal. Social media was abuzz with images and videos of the fire, capturing the attention of Dubliners and travelers alike.
