Five Northern Cheetah cubs born in Fota Wildlife Park; Public asked to vote names

The Fota Wildlife Park in Co Cork has welcomed five little guests which will add to its diverse wildlife. Two male and three female Northern Cheetah cubs were born at the park to mother Grainne and father Archie on 10th August.

The mother Grainne is four years old and was born in Fota Wildlife Park itself. Father Archie is 12 years old and was transferred to Fota Wildlife Park from a zoological facility in Dubai. Grainne had given birth to three cubs last year but Archie is a first-time dad.

“The cubs are very active and a delight to see every day, up at the top of their habitat playing and annoying their mother Grainne, who seems to be taking it all in her stride,” Head ranger at the Park, Julien Fonteneau said.

The Northern cheetahs are considered as endangered animals by the International Union of Conservation of Nature (IUCN). As of now less than 800 Cheetahs of this subspecies left in the wild.
