An Garda Síochána has launched a new digital platform called Help4U, aimed at supporting children and teenagers in Ireland who are experiencing sexual assault, abuse or online threats.

The platform allows anyone under the age of 18 to seek help not only for physical or in-person abuse, but also for online threats, including coercion, harassment and the misuse or threat of sharing private images. Gardaí say this reflects the changing nature of harm faced by young people today.
Help4U provides clear guidance on what to do if a child is at risk, explains legal rights in simple terms, and points users towards trusted sources of help. The service also includes dedicated advice for parents, teachers and professionals who work with children, helping them understand warning signs and how best to respond.
Authorities say many children do not report abuse due to fear, shame, threats from perpetrators, or uncertainty about how adults will react. Online blackmail and intimidation using personal photos are cited as growing concerns. Help4U has been designed to remove some of these barriers by offering confidential, accessible, 24-hour support.
Gardaí say the platform is about early intervention and reassurance, helping young people understand that support is available and that they are not alone.
