Gardaí Seize €20,000 Worth Of Fireworks Ahead Of Halloween Celebrations In Sligo

To ensure public safety during Halloween festivities, the Gardaí have confiscated fireworks worth €20,000 from a residence in Sligo just days before the holiday. The operation took place at approximately 6.30 pm on Wednesday and also yielded a small amount of cocaine.

This crackdown is part of Operation Tombola, a law enforcement initiative aimed at preventing accidents related to the use of fireworks during celebratory events like Halloween. Ireland strictly prohibits the manufacture, possession, and use of fireworks, and importing them from countries where they are legally available is illegal.

The Gardaí have issued a stern warning that individuals possessing fireworks will face legal consequences. This stringent enforcement of fireworks regulations underscores the nation’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens during the holiday season.
