The life of a young infant girl was recently saved by heroic gardai in a station after the child’s terrified mother pleaded for help instantly.
The mother sought immediate assistance because the hospital was 15 kilometres away after the frightful incident occurred at Trim Garda Station.
Garda Edel Dugdale and Garda Grace Murray were on duty at the station and immediately responded with lifesaving CPR. The baby regained consciousness and was cared for until paramedics soon arrived.
Their quick thinking and calm in a frightening situation for mother and child led to the three-month-old surviving long enough to receive help from paramedics. In time for the ambulance to arrive, they performed CPR, and the baby became conscious.
The mother and child have now both recovered completely from what must have been a traumatic experience, according to the Gardai. The young girl has, thankfully, fully recovered from the traumatic experience.
In a post on social media, gardai said: “The quick reaction of both Gardaí combined with their skill and ability to remain calm in this pressurised situation, is a fitting example of the everyday acts that members do to keep people safe. We’d like to thank this young mother for placing her trust in local Gardaí to help at a time of need.”
