The Indian government has extended the ban on international flights to and from the country till August 31. The new decision came in contradiction with the earlier announcement to resume commercial flights from July 31. Scheduled flights also had set to resume from July 30 after 16-month gap.
The move comes after India’s fight with third wave of Covid-19 in progress. Only dedicated cargo flights as well as flights under the bilateral air bubble will be allowed to operate, the civil aviation board confirmed. India has bilateral air bubble agreements with 28 countries in the world including UK, France, Germany and US.
Amid Covid fears, India suspended international flights as early since 23 March 2020.
