Four others hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries as Gardaí appeal for witnesses

An infant has died following a two-car collision in County Louth on Saturday evening, with four other people injured in the crash.

The accident occurred between 7:50pm and 8:20pm on Saturday on the R132 in the Duleek area. Four other people injured in the collision were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with non-life-threatening injuries.

The injured include the driver of the first car, a woman in her late 20s, the driver of the second vehicle, a man in his early 50s, and a teenage girl who was a passenger in the second car.

An Garda Síochána is urgently appealing for members of the public who witnessed the accident to come forward, particularly those with video footage.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cams) and were traveling on the R132 in the Duleek area between 7:50pm and 8:20pm on Saturday evening are asked to make it available to investigators,” a Garda spokesperson said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 938 8400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any nearby Garda station.

An investigation into the tragic accident is ongoing. The death adds to mounting concerns about road safety in Ireland, with the country experiencing multiple fatal collisions in recent weeks.

The R132 is a major regional route connecting Dublin with Dundalk and the border region, carrying significant traffic volumes including commuters and commercial vehicles.
