Ireland Tops Global Sleep Charts: People Sleep The Longest During The Week

Dublin – In a groundbreaking global study, Ireland has emerged as the champion of sleep, with its citizens enjoying the longest slumber during the workweek. According to research published in Science Direct, people in Ireland are clocking an impressive average of 7 hours and 48 minutes of sleep per night from Monday to Friday.

The study, which analyzed data from over 50 million nights of sleep collected from 220,000 people across 35 countries via wearable devices, paints a fascinating picture of sleep habits worldwide. This research was conducted in 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, shedding light on how global events influenced our rest.

Surprisingly, Japan claimed the opposite end of the spectrum, with citizens getting the least amount of weekday sleep, averaging under 7 hours per night.
