In comparison to other European nations, research reveals that Ireland’s household recycling rate is one of the highest.
A recent study by the junk removal company Clear it Waste examined information for European nations between 2012 and 2021. Ireland saw the 19th-largest rise at 12%, leaving Ireland with a household recycling rate of 40.8 percent.
Slovakia experienced the most growth in Europe since 2012, with a 265 percent gain over the previous ten years and a recycling rate of 48.8 percent.
Poland came in second with a 236% rise, giving them a recycling rate of 40.3%, while Latvia came in third with a 202% increase, giving them a recycling rate of 44%.
The lowest recycling rate in Europe is found in Romania, where only 11.3% of waste is recycled, a 24.0% drop since 2011.
Denmark and Sweden observed a fall in the quantity of rubbish they recycle, despite recycling a significant portion of it ten years ago. Sweden experienced a loss of 16%, while Denmark saw a decrease of 19%.
