Government-controlled public transport operators in Ireland have launched a major recruitment campaign for foreign bus drivers as the sector seeks to address staffing shortages.

Bus Éireann and Dublin Bus are actively recruiting qualified drivers from abroad to fill vacancies across their networks, with applications open to candidates from European countries and those already residing in Ireland.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must hold a residency card and a Category D driving license from any European country. Those already residing in Ireland with a Category D driving license are also eligible to apply.
Interested candidates must submit their CV along with copies of their residency card, passport, Category D driving license and tachograph card to the email address info@i2i.ie before the deadline of Wednesday, November 19.
Salary and Comprehensive Benefits Package
The positions offer 39 hours of work per week on a shift basis, with weekly salaries ranging from €829 to €960. Overtime allowances are also available for additional hours worked.
From the second year of employment, drivers will receive a comprehensive benefits package including pension benefits, free GP services for spouses and children, free parking, meal allowances, and access to a subsidized canteen. An Employee Assistance Program will also be available to support workers’ wellbeing.
Family reunification facilities will be offered after one year of employment, allowing successful candidates to bring their families to Ireland.
The recruitment drive reflects ongoing challenges in the Irish public transport sector, which has struggled to maintain adequate staffing levels amid growing demand for bus services across Dublin and throughout the country.
Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications promptly, with the deadline set for November 19. For more information, candidates can contact the recruitment team at info@i2i.ie.
