The Irish Rail has announced significant changes in its new timetable aimed to enhance the convenience of passengers.
As per the new timetable, which will come into effect from August 26, more intercity train services will be added for Galway, Waterford, Wexford, Cobh and Midleton. It also announced additional weekend trains on the Cork commuter network.
A move from a two-hourly to an hourly service on Dublin/Belfast route will commence later in the year, the Irish Rail stated, adding that departure times could change on many DART, Northern Commuter and Maynooth Commuter services to accommodate this service.
The Irish Rail also confirmed the opening of the new Kishoge station in west county Dublin, which was originally supposed to come into service more than a decade ago. It will be served by Heuston Commuter and Newbridge/Hazelhatch to Connolly/Grand Canal Dock services.
Among other significant changes, passengers on the Sligo/Dublin Connolly route can now benefit from interchange with the Luas Green line with the stoppage of all services at Broombridge.
