Kamala Harris becomes the first woman to hold power in US President Office. Presidential power from Joe Biden has been officially transferred to vice president Harris on Friday following Biden’s hospital visit. Harris held the office for an hour and 25 minutes before Biden taking back the office, the White House said.
Joe Biden was admitted to undergo a routine colonoscopy at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday and he needed anesthesia during the examination. This led to the temporary power transfer to Harris.
Harris took the power at 10.10am and ran the office until 11.35 following Biden’s return.
“As was the case when President George W. Bush had the same procedure in 2002 and 2007, and following the process set out in the Constitution, President Biden will transfer power to the Vice President for the brief period of time when he is under anesthesia,” Press secretary Jen Psaki said.
Harris thus became the first woman to hold the power in President Office in the history of USA. Kamala Harris is also the first woman to become vice president of USA, who is an Indian descent.
