Over 823,600 patients are currently on national public hospital waiting lists, according to new data published yesterday evening.
Compared to December’s figures, there has been an increase of over 11,100 patients.
At an outpatient clinic, there are currently 589,670 patients in line to receive their first consultation.
The National Treatment Purchase Fund provided the official January statistics.
More than 83,400 patients are awaiting a date for an inpatient or day case procedure.
The national statistics do not include more than 54,000 patients who were “suspended” from waiting lists due to clinical or other factors.
The figures also account for hospitals’ recent validation of waiting lists, which had to cancel planned procedures due to hospital overcrowding that set a record in January.
