Officials in Dublin have lost track of nearly 2,000 men who arrived as refugees. These individuals, who came from countries like Pakistan, Somalia, and Palestine, are now unaccounted for. Many were living in tents on Mount Street and along the Grand Canal Road, but repeated evacuations have scattered them.

While some refugees have found temporary shelter in churches, hostels, or on the streets, a large number are still untracked. Volunteers are concerned about the lack of accurate information regarding their whereabouts. Some refugees continue to check in with the International Protection Accommodation Service, yet the majority remain unaccounted for.
Authorities have set up tents at locations like Crooksling and the former Central Mental Hospital in Dundrum to provide accommodation. Since April 30, some international protection applicants have been housed on Mount Street and by the Grand Canal. The Department of Integration insists they prioritize accommodation for refugees, supported by Homeless Day Services and the Irish Refugee Council. Despite these efforts, the current situation raises serious concerns about the missing refugees.4o
