Ireland’s newest train station will welcome its first passengers next month, with Woodbrook station set to open on August 10th between Bray and Shankill in south Dublin.

The Department of Transport-funded facility, delivered through the National Transport Authority, will become the 147th station on the Republic’s rail network and serve a rapidly expanding residential area of up to 2,300 homes.
Passengers using Woodbrook will have access to 191 daily Dart services on weekdays, with journey times to Dublin city centre taking approximately 40 minutes. The station features two 174-meter platforms equipped with passenger shelters, seating, lighting, CCTV systems, customer information displays, bicycle parking, and full ticketing facilities.
A key feature of the new station is a pedestrian bridge providing access across railway tracks, complete with both ramped and stepped access options. The design also accommodates future pedestrian and cycling routes in the surrounding area, reflecting modern sustainable transport planning.
Construction began in November 2023, with the project completing on schedule. Access to the station is via Woodbrook Avenue, strategically positioned to serve both existing neighborhoods and new developments in the area.
Iarnród Éireann emphasized the station’s role in supporting Ireland’s climate action targets by reducing car dependency. “We look forward to welcoming a new community to our services,” the transport company stated, highlighting how the station will provide “fast, frequent and sustainable travel options” as the local community continues to grow.
The opening represents a significant addition to Dublin’s public transport infrastructure, offering residents in the growing south Dublin corridor improved connectivity to the capital and wider rail network.
