Hourly train services between Dublin’s Connolly Station and the new Belfast Grand Central Station have been launched in a bid to improve linkages between the two cities.
This will significantly increase the frequency of trains between the two cities, offering 15 services in each direction from Monday to Saturday. On Sundays, the schedule will also be boosted, with eight trains operating in each direction.
The new service marks a substantial improvement over previous schedules, which provided just eight services each way during the week and six on Sundays.
This change aims to enhance travel convenience and flexibility for passengers commuting between Dublin and Belfast and those stopping at stations along the route.
The service upgrade is made possible through €25 million in funding from the Shared Island Fund, a government initiative, and the Department of Transport. This investment highlights the importance placed on improving cross-border connectivity and supporting economic growth between Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Trains will serve key stops along the route, including Drogheda, Dundalk, Newry, and Portadown, ensuring accessible travel across multiple destinations.
