The Minister of State for Civil and Criminal Justice, Hildegarde Naughton TD, has welcomed the start of public consultations on the development of a new national strategy on Domestic, Sexual and Gender Based Violence (DSGBV). This third national strategy will place an emphasis on prevention and reduction, and is to be agreed by Government before the end of 2021.
Minister Naughton said,“Justice Plan 2021 commits to the development of the third national strategy on Domestic, Sexual and Gender Based Violence. Development of the new national strategy is also a priority for this government, and public engagement on this important topic will be a fundamental element of that development over the coming months“
External consultants have been recruited to help draft the new strategy. They are working on a number of different elements including a review of the second national strategy and identifying the outstanding issues to be addressed, as well as coordinating public input into the development of the new strategy. As part of this work, public consultations on the third national strategy on DSGBV have begun. These include:
- An online survey, open until 18 June, on the second national strategy
- Five online public workshops taking place on various dates in June
