There is no set date for the issuing of this year’s Junior Certificate results.
The State Examinations Commission (SEC) has told RTÉ News that its “ongoing focus” continues to be the Leaving Certificate results.
The Junior Cert results were traditionally provided in mid-September before the pandemic but the issuing of grades has changed significantly since then.
Usually announced in the middle of August, the Leaving Cert results in this year were announced at the beginning of September.
The SEC told RTÉ that Junior Cert results would not be issued until they were aware of the number of appeals that had been lodged for Leaving Cert exam results.
Applications for appeals were due this Monday. The delayed posting of Junior Cert results online has drawn criticism from a number of people who claim it is unfair to the students who are anxiously awaiting their grades.
The SEC told RTÉ that Junior Cert results would not be issued until they were aware of the number of appeals that had been lodged for Leaving Cert exam results.
The deadline for appeal applications was this Monday.
The number of candidates sitting the exams reached a record high this year of 131,000 students.
Exam sittings are 6 percent more than what was previously seen in 2019. This year marked the reinstatement of Junior Cert exams for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic.
