Remote and hybrid working reaches record high in Ireland despite return-to-office push

The battle over remote and hybrid work arrangements continues as new data from job platform Indeed reveals that such roles in Ireland have reached unprecedented levels.

According to the platform’s 2025 Irish Jobs and Hiring Trends Report, 17.5 per cent of job postings in Ireland mentioned remote or hybrid options by the end of December 2024—a figure more than four times higher than pre-pandemic levels.

Jobseeker interest in remote and hybrid work has also remained steady. Approximately 2.6 per cent of all searches for Irish job postings included keywords related to remote or hybrid roles as of December, a tenfold increase compared to pre-pandemic times.

Ireland now leads the European Union in the adoption of hybrid working, transitioning at a faster rate than any other EU country.

This trend persists despite a series of high-profile mandates urging employees to return to office settings. In September 2024, PwC announced that staff in Ireland would be required to work in the office or at client sites at least three days a week.

Amazon also announced a stricter return-to-office policy, requiring employees to work on-site five days a week starting in January 2025.

Despite these moves, the data highlights Ireland’s strong embrace of flexible work arrangements, with remote and hybrid roles becoming a defining feature of the country’s job market.
