Ryanair launches €79 annual ‘Prime’ membership with flight perks

Ryanair has introduced a new subscription service called ‘Prime’ offering customers benefits including reserved seating, travel insurance, and exclusive access to seat sales for an annual fee of €79.

The airline is making the membership available to the first 250,000 customers, which could potentially generate up to €19.7 million annually if the service proves popular. Ryanair estimates that customers who fly three times per year will save €105, exceeding the membership cost, with frequent flyers potentially saving up to €420 annually.

Marketing director Dara Brady highlighted the service is designed for regular travelers looking to save money, positioning it alongside similar subscription models recently adopted by other airlines.

Key benefits of the Prime membership include:

  • Reserved seating
  • Travel insurance
  • Exclusive monthly seat sale offers
  • Potential savings for frequent flyers

The subscription will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis and will close once 250,000 memberships have been sold.

This move reflects a growing trend in the airline industry of offering subscription services that provide added value and potential cost savings for frequent travelers.
