Santry Community Garden located within the Santry Demesne public park in Dublin has been voted among the world’s top ten Green Flag sites.
The Green Flag Award for Parks is the mark of a quality park or green space and is recognised throughout the world. An Taisce Environmental Education have been operating this scheme within the Republic of Ireland since 2016. An Taisce is the National Operator for all international environmental education programmes of FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education). The Green Flag Award is one among many of national programmes operated by the An Taisce.
The Green Flag Award is awarded for exceeding tough environmental standards in green space management, and excellence of visitor attractions. The voting system is through social media to encourage people to show their love for their local green spaces. Some of the other parks that have been awarded are in USA, Belgium, Spain, Netherlands, Finland, Australia, New Zealand, Portugal and Turkey.
The Santry Community Garden is a beautiful, 4-acre walled garden situated within the Santry Demesne public park. With more than a 100 volunteer members, this beautiful garden encompasses a productive kitchen garden teeming with fruit, herbs and vegetables and a heritage orchard of over 400 trees.
This beautiful garden is located at the back of Santry Demesne Public Park in the heart of Santry Village in North Dublin.
