Sky customers advised to restart boxes after widespread standby mode issue

Sky has issued an apology to customers after many experienced technical problems with their Sky Q boxes unexpectedly switching to standby mode during television viewing last night.

The company confirmed this morning that the issues have been resolved, but is advising customers whose boxes remain stuck in standby mode to perform a simple restart procedure.

“We’re sorry some customers had trouble accessing Sky Q last night. The issue is now resolved, and service has been restored,” Sky said in a statement to The Journal.

For those still experiencing problems, Sky recommends completely disconnecting the device from power: “If your Sky Q box is still stuck in standby, please switch off your Sky Q box at the power socket for 30 seconds and back on again which will restore service.”

The company acknowledged that technical issues overnight had caused the boxes to enter standby mode unexpectedly, but said their technical team “worked quickly to investigate and restore service.”

Sky apologized for any inconvenience caused by the disruption, which appears to have affected a significant number of customers across their service area.
