Met Éireann has warned of spot flooding, local hail, and lightning expected across parts of Ireland on Sunday, following yesterday’s St Swithin’s Day downpours.

The national weather service forecasts thundery showers merging into longer spells of rain as the week continues to be “changeable and rather unsettled.” However, hurling fans attending the All-Ireland final at Croke Park on Sunday afternoon can still expect some sunshine.
Despite the wet conditions, temperatures will remain relatively high, with highs of 19 to 21 degrees predicted. Northeastern areas are expected to see the best of the sunny spells.
Thursday will begin cloudy, wet and breezy with continuing thundery rain and humid conditions, before clearing to become dry with clear spells. Temperatures will reach between 19 and 22 degrees, with eastern areas staying mildest and driest.
Friday brings a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, becoming heavy in the afternoon and evening across the east and northeast. Western counties will experience cooler conditions, with nighttime temperatures dropping to between 9 and 15 degrees.
Saturday will be generally dry to start the weekend, though thundery rain is expected during the night leading into Sunday’s unsettled conditions.
The changeable weather pattern reflects typical Irish summer conditions, with sunshine and showers alternating throughout the period.
