Residents of Donegal were shaken last night as a suspected slight earthquake rumbled through the area, particularly around Ballybofey. At approximately 8:48 pm, many reported hearing the tremors, prompting concerns and inquiries.
Brendan O’Donoghue, a teacher at St Columba’s College in Stranorlar, confirmed that the seismometers at the college had detected a clear signal of the event. O’Donoghue appealed to locals who heard any unusual noises to come forward with their observations. The suspected quake is believed to have had an impact within a 10km radius of Ballybofey.
In response to the incident, O’Donoghue can be reached via email at bodonoghue@stcolumbasstranorlar.ie. The community is urged to provide any information or experiences related to the event to assist in understanding its nature and scope. Stay tuned for further updates as the situation unfolds.
