Yesterday saw Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar meet with US President Joe Biden at The White House as part of the annual St. Patrick’s visit. Varadkar utilized this opportunity to address significant global issues including the conflict in Gaza, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Northern Ireland, and the situation of undocumented Irish immigrants in the US.
Despite Varadkar’s decision not to confront Biden on sensitive matters like America’s support for Israel, he engaged in discussions in the Oval Office and at events such as the St. Patrick’s Day Lunch hosted by Speaker Mike Johnson at the US Capitol.
While the iconic shamrock ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, yesterday’s focus remained on substantive discussions aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties and addressing critical global challenges.
