In southeast London, two 16-year-old boys were stabbed to death.
At around 5.10 p.m., the London Metropolitan Police received calls about incidents at two locations in Greenwich that were about a mile apart.
Sewell Road in Abbey Wood and Titmuss Avenue in Thamesmead were the locations of the calls.
“At each location, they found a 16-year-old male with stab wounds,” police said.
“Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, both males have been pronounced dead this evening,” they added.
A murder investigation into the deaths of both teenagers is ongoing, and crime scenes have been established at both locations.
Their families will be provided with support from specialist officers.
Officers will work urgently to determine any connection between the incidents given their proximity in both time and distance.
A Section 60 stop-and-search order, which gives officers more search authority, is in effect until 8 a.m. on Monday.
