Unemployment rate in Ireland drops to 4.1% in November, CSO data reveals

The unemployment rate in November fell to 4.1 per cent, down slightly from 4.2 per cent in October, according to new data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

The CSO reported that the seasonally adjusted number of unemployed individuals stood at 118,900 in November, a decrease from 120,300 in October.

This figure also reflects a year-on-year reduction of 5,400 people, signalling a steady decline in unemployment over the past 12 months.

Male unemployment remained steady at 4.1 per cent in November, the same as in October but down from 4.3 per cent in November 2023. Female unemployment also showed a positive trend, declining to 4.1 per cent in November from 4.3 per cent in October and 4.6 per cent in the same period last year.

While overall unemployment rates showed improvements, youth unemployment registered a slight increase. The rate for young people rose to 10.9 per cent in November, up from a revised rate of 10.8 per cent in October. This indicates a persistent challenge in securing employment opportunities for younger demographics.
