The unemployment rate in Ireland fell to 4% in January, down from a revised 4.5 per cent in December 2024, according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

The data shows that the monthly unemployment rate for men declined to 4 per cent in January, compared to a revised 4.9 per cent in December and 4.3 per cent in January last year.
For women, the jobless rate stood at 4.1 per cent in January, slightly up from 4 per cent in December but lower than the 4.7 per cent recorded in January 2024.
Youth unemployment also showed improvement, easing to 11.9 per cent in January from a revised 12.7 per cent the previous month.
The CSO reported that the seasonally adjusted number of unemployed people dropped to 116,200 in January, down from 128,600 in December.
