Dublin – Thirteen individuals have been arrested in the wake of violent protests that rocked the vicinity of Leinster House, the seat of the Irish Parliament. The protests, spearheaded by extreme right-wing factions in Ireland, culminated in a two-hour lockdown of the parliamentary building, leaving numerous TDs and officials stranded.
Extremist protesters amassed outside Parliament, menacing more than a thousand individuals, including political representatives, civil servants, support staff, journalists, police officers (Gardaí), and members of the defense forces, all of whom were laboring within the expansive Leinster House complex.
In recent times, there has been a surge in groups disseminating false and inflammatory propaganda against the government online, rallying crowds for confrontations. The situation escalated as cameras captured aggressive behavior directed not only at politicians but also at innocent members of the public and law enforcement.
Of particular concern was an incident involving Michael Healy-Rae TD, who was accosted by protesters upon leaving the Parliament, sending shockwaves throughout the nation.
Authorities are now grappling with the aftermath of these violent clashes as they work to restore peace and order in the heart of Dublin.
